Long time no see

so hello...
I haven't been blogging in a long time. somehow i just didn't feel like blogging. kind of fed up.
But here is an update about the last couple of months...

June:
NEW CAR
Jochberg
Markus moved in with me and started a new job in Munich. like, like, like....and chaos... at least in the beginning. he has a bunch of stuff and my stuff is here as well... so it took us awhile until everything had been organised! and some mountaineering...

July:
Tons of University exams. studying, studying, studying.

August:
SUMMER BREAK. Went to Croatia with some friends. Great times. then spend two weeks at Mallorca, Spain with the family. Really needed some time off.

September:
Sunset at Oktoberfest
Back to work. back to university. hello again every day life. but with tons of new motivation
Started my first Quilt with the help of my Grandmom who is an awesome Quilter. She was in the US during Spring and bought me a lot of Fabric. It is way cheaper there!
Oktoberfest = FUN (and yes, Oktoberfest is in September. do not ask me why!)

Oktober:
University... and this weekend: Oct. 27 2012: THE FIRST SNOW! I am deeply in love with this winter wonderland! Went skiing with the skiing instructors of the DSLV and the ski school I am teaching at. The weather was amazing and I had a really great weekend and sore muscels on Monday.

Buona Pasqua! Frohe Ostern! Happy Easter!

Good Friday until Easter Monday are official holidays in Germany, so no work. A couple days off.
Since the weather over easter wasn't too great in Munich. Markus and I decided to do a little road trip looking for sunshine.
We packed the car and just drove South. We ended up in Florence, Italy. An amazing city I love. Markus had never been there before so we decided to stay a couple of nights. In our tent.
It was fun. Spending Easter in Italy was really special. Pasqua means Easter in Italian! And I cannot tell you how often I heard "Buona Pasqua!" over the last couple of days. Even from strangers on the Streets! I loved it!

In Florence, Easter is celebrated with the Scoppio del Carro, explosion of the cart. A huge, decorated wagon is dragged through Florence by white oxen until it reaches Basilica die Santa Maria del Fiore in the historic center. Following mass, the Archbishop sends a dove-shaped rocked into the cart, igniting the fireworks held in the card. pretty spectacular! it is followed by a parade in medieval costumes!

We had an amazing time and ate at so many great restaurants.

Our Tent!
I ♥ Firenze

il Duomo

The cutest little store! We bought tons of Olive Oil there!

Tramonto del Sole!

In Italy you have to drink Espresso!

Carnival

So last week I was bad. I had tonsillitis and a cold. I could not talk and had to stay in bed. I did not leave my bed for two entire days and felt horrible. I am hardly ever ill so I decided this is it for the next two years, at least...
The Timing was even worse. In Bavaria we celebrate carnival. Not as much as in other parts of Germany, like Cologne. But still we celebrate. And I like it.
On Thursday was "Weiberfasching" which means it is Womans Carnival day. I was still in bed. no celebrations for me. :-(

But I felt better on Saturday so I decided to drive home to Weilheim to join celebrations on Sunday
Every two years the city center of Weilheim, i.e. the pedestrian area tranforms into what I call carnival area. Local stores and sport clubs have little stands outdoors and sell food and drinks. And of course there is a stage where music is played etc.
And everyone is there. no matter what age. Weilheim is not that big and I grew up there so I enjoyed meeting some old friends and people I have not seen in a while!

And of course everyone is dressed up. I went as clown.

BOBSLEIGH

So last year I gave Markus a gift coupon for his birthday for THIS! It is a fairly popular winter sport in Europe. And his Granddad did it when he was younger. So during Christmas break we went to ride a bobsleigh. Well he did I watched! But I had an amazing time as well! The place where we went to is near Berchtesgaden. It is famous for its beautiful landscape and well there a quite a few tourists their. It is super close to the Austrian border, so afterwards we drove to Austria to refuel since it is way cheaper there due to the taxes! We had an amazing day even if it wasn't exactly sunny!
Beautiful Mountains!

So fast! So hard to take pictures!

Hero!

First Selfmade Bread

I do have neurodermatitis and lately I've found out that I am allergic to wheat products. I love bread. So I made an attempt to bake an whole grain bread. I would say: success!
Not perfect but for the first time, it tasted and looked like a rye bread! Since it was pretty easy to makg I am def. going to bake it again!

so where to start...
I have been studying a lot lately. to be honest, more than ever before. Back in school I never had to study so much. Luckily I am blessed with a pretty good memory. At least the short-term memory always worked well. :)
Since I haven't been really studying during the last month, maybe this is why it has been hard for me now. The first exams took place in the week before Christmas. Great I know. So I was not really in a Christmas mood until the 23rd of December. and I absolutely adore Christmas time. At least I was done with Shopping and had everything wrapped! Got some great inspriration from this cute blog I found. It is called "Emmadime".
So after the exam on the 22nd I drove home to my family. I think I have not been to Weilheim for four weeks, which is a pretty long time, considering it is only 50 km away. The next day I went skiing with three fellow students! we had a fun day at www.hochfuegenski.com. It was my first time skiing there and really liked the site!
In Germany Christmas Eve (on the 24th) is when all the magic happens. We come together, have a massive dinner and share the presents.
So that is what I did. spent the evening with my family and was fascinated with all the lights and decoration my mom set up. She really loves all that stuff, so our living room is the most fascinating place, maybe sometimes it is a little bit too much, but that is just my taste...
After gift giving and dinner we went to church. That's it pretty much. The public holidays afterwards (25th and 26th) are the one's where everyone visits family and eats until you feel stuffed for about a month!
I went skiing with the fam on the 25th.
That was very different from all the years before. Usually my brother and I visited my Grandmother (my father's mother) and spent the day with my dad and his side of the family. This was the first Christmas since both of them passed away and it was not such a great feeling. I did not get to see my aunts and uncles since they came toghether on the 24th and I really missed my grandmom's cooking. And her Christmas tree. She always had candy on her tree, so my brother and I had this thing where each year we tried to get our favorite treats. not this year...
So Christmas was bittersweat this year.

The last days I was glad to have holidays. New Years Eve dinner was so much fun! It was raining at midnight but we still had an amazing time. We saw all the fireworks from some friends roof-deck. The view over Munich was just amazing.

Happy new Year! Markus and I

So Happy New Year to Everyone!

love the snow, don't love exams...

So usually you can go skiing in Bavaria around the beginning of November. well, not this year... I was super excited for snow and I had to wait for it forever. The other skiing instructors and I had some training to do for the season but absolutely NO SNOW in Bavaria. so for the first weekend we went to the Pitztal Glacier. Fun weekend and I decided I am in love with my new ski boots. After those two days I was so sore. (Like I hate living on 4th floor without an elevator sore!).

Then along came december: Still no snow. So instead of going skiing at Ratschings, South Tyrol, we went to Kronplatz where it had at least artificial snow. First I thought of staying home due to the snow conditions and the shitty weather... Afterwards I am so glad I went! Epic weekend. We had so much fun. And even it was not real snow, it was still pretty good skiing!

so two great weekends so far! lets see what comes along during the season. Unfortunately right now I have to study for upcoming exams. More concerned about problems like: That moment when the orange highlighter runs out and the whole organization system breaks down. Commencing plan b: highlight in yellowthen pink, then go to store eventually.

something like home

purple bedroom wall
so after weeks of not posting, I will tell you the reason why:

my new flat and university.
I finally have some furniture and it was a lot of work to put the pieces together. REALLY tons of work. took way more effort than I thought...
And technically seen I have absolutely no time right now. My Exams are in December which is already pretty close. I only realized because of all the Christmas stuff in shops.

So I like Ikea. Yes I do. And under normal circumstances I like working with my hands, i.e. to setup shelfs, glass cabinets. But after the fifth thing even I start to give up.

All the things I built!

CURTAINS!!

Next problem: Internet, phone and TV. I think I talked to the phone company 18393948 trillion times. Still not perfect: phone yes, internet yes BUT TV still not working properly...

SPACE for my clothes! yay!

By now I am already happy that I have all the lamps installed. so I am happy. I guess it will take awhile until I have all the decoration I want and it feels REALLY like home. I enjoy having my grandma nearby. she helps me with curtains, and stuff like that. In return I go grocery shopping for her or help her figuring out the internet! and of course I love it if she cooks for me... I wish that someday I will have the same cooking abilitys! Until then I am probably better of studying economics! I will keep you all updated. and to my friends in the US and all the other wonderful places in this world. I have a place to stay for you. You are invited to visit Munich at all times. Just let me know!

Hello followers!

I really like my new job. Right now I am basically a full time student and getting payed for it, makes things easier! on Thursday the previous tenant is moving out. so after my grandmother checked the appartment (its hers) it is ready for me to move in. We decided that I will get a new kitchen, since the one, which is in the appartment right now is pretty old and not really energy-saving (talking about a 20 year old fridge...) can't wait to make cookies and to cook in my new apartment!

so I will move in next weekend and I am super excited! tomorrow I meet the painter to discuss the colors for my walls. Any suggestions?
I absolutely love bruising through the furiture stores and get inspired! I started to go dancing every friday and I love it! I have not been dancing for years and I never realized how much I missed it!Unfortunately I cought a cold. Not a good timing right now. Totally not the right timing. so much I wanted to do during the weekend... At least I got a little bit time to blog!

I got myself a pair of new shoes. I love the color. not red. not pink. just perfect. and they are just right for fall weather!
online.shopping.fever.I.love
I found the most beautiful furniture and other stuff at:  www.impressionen.de

Promise to blog soon about me moving. I really do not need to say that I am definately not looking forward to packing all my stuff...

Remember summer

so over the last couple of days the weather has been going worse. Fall is coming... Nevertheless it was an exceptional beautiful September! Amazing sunshine! here some pictures from lately...

During the last warm days we did an amazing bike tour. It was fun! Markus and I ended up in a beautiful Biergarten!

On September 29th it was my Mom's and Franky's birthday. Yes they have at the same day!! crazy I know. Since Franky turned 50, we had a bit of a party. There were sooo many people and we had the best food!

My Mom and Franky

The other morning I got up early to go for a run. It was the most beautiful sunrise. Taken in the English Garden in Munich (Englischer Garten, München) around 7 am.

I am definately going to miss the summer! but I miss skiing and winter as well... so let's see what the next weeks will bring. I will move into my new appartment on Oct. 20th! until then, I have plenty to pack and organize...
